The oldest brand of modern smokeless tobacco is the Copenhagen brand which pretty much invented the modern day dip. This type of smokeless tobacco is made by taking tobacco leaves that have been air dried and hanging them in large barns under smoldering fires made from either Oak or Hickory sawdust for a few weeks. The smoke permeates the tobacco giving the final product it’s distinct, smoky flavor. Once the tobacco has been properly smoke cured, it’s taken to the factory for the next step in the process. |
